Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus: Top 10 features we must know about

apple iphone 7 features

Apple started the September 7 event talking about the newly redesigned Apple Music and kept the best surprise for the last. iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are smartphones that Apple announced; we don’t know about Pro but yes iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are official now. Both of them are an upgrade of the previous generation iPhone 6 series, not only from the design aspect but from the hardware part also. Let’s talk about the best ten features that Apple showed us at the event.

Design and Color

Last year Apple released the iPhone 6S with a new color – Rose Gold (and it costs more than other colors). Apple did it again and released a new premium color called Jet Black. The Jet Black version looks like it wears a high gloss finish all over the body and the Apple logo at the back is made of stainless steel so it won’t disappear in the gloss finish. More color variants include Black (another black with matte finish), silver, gold and yes rose gold is still here but not premium anymore.

Home Button

Apple users are using Apple smartphone with single button since the beginning. Now things are going to change for Apple users; the home button is now not clickable. The button is now combined with Force Touch technology and backup up with a Haptic Feedback engine to give you a feedback of clicking the home button. This feedback can be programmed by third-party applications to give you feedback about notifications and more.

Water and Dust Resistant

Ok, now comes the good one which every Apple user was asking for – Water and dust resistance. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus both are IP67 protection standard water and dust resistant. You can dunk your iPhone 7 or 7 Plus in water but still, you cannot claim warranty if your phone get damaged by water.

Camera

Apple improved the camera in iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus; 12 MP camera with f/1.8 aperture lens in iPhone 7 and two 12 MP cameras iPhone 7 Plus. Apple’s iPhone 7 is the first smartphone to feature quad LED true tone flash for cameras. The two 12 MP sensors in iPhone 7 Plus lets users zoom up to 2X optical zoom. Do not confuse the Optical Zoom with Digital Zoom; digital zoom is just enlarging the pixels to give an effect of zoom but optical zoom actually the zoom into objects without lowering the quality of the picture.

Stereo Speakers

Apple added stereo speakers in iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, placed them so intelligently to get the most out of them. One of them is placed at the bottom edge and the second one in the earpiece. Apple removed the 3.5 mm jack leaving some more space to add speakers.

AirPods

AirPods is a new product from Apple; these are wireless ear pods can be connected to iPhone using Bluetooth. These AirPods costs $159 and sell separately. You can compare them to Samsung’s Gear Icon X, but these do more than Samsung Gear IconX earpods. With one tap you can invoke Siri and ask her about directions. AirPods can be used one at once, and both of them lasts 5 hours on full charge.

A10 Fusion Processor

The processor in iPhone 7 and 7 Plus had been updated to Quad Core and the chip that Apple created – A10 fusion. Apple claimed that this processor contains more than three billion transistors and with this, the new iPhone 7 is 10X faster than the previous iPhone.

Improved Battery

Apple never reveals specs of any hardware it uses in its smartphones. This time, Apple claimed that the iPhone 7’s battery lasts two hours longer than iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 Plus battery lasts one hour longer than iPhone 6S Plus.

Retina HD Display

The display size is the same as the last year’s iPhone lineup; iPhone 7 with 4.7 inches and iPhone 7 Plus with 5.5 inches. Both models come with Retina HD display but with different resolution and pixel density. Even Samsung now know that the screen size doesn’t matter anymore and kept the size of its Galaxy S7 Edge to 5.1 inches (including edge), but Apple again introduces a 5.5 inches smartphone.

Lightning Audio Port

Apple finally puts the rumors to rest about removing the 3.5 mm audio port. iPhone 7 now have only one port for charging and connecting earpods. How to charge while listening to music you ask? That’s why Apple released the $159 AirPods. If you want to use your old headphones, you can do that using the converter you’ll find in the box.

Conclusion

Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are the best iPhones ever that Apple has created. Apple listened to the requests and implemented all of them in its new iPhone. The new iPhone 7 starts from $649 and iPhone 7 Plus starts from $769 (both 32GB versions), and the storage configurations are doubled now; 32 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB.
