Sony Mobile has announced that it will upgrade nine of its Xperia smartphones to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. The Japanese manufacturer has outed the list of the devices in its official blog. The handsets to receive the brand new Android version are Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z3+, Xperia X, Xperia XA Ultra, Xperia X Performance, Xperia XA and Xperia Z4 Tablet. While Sony hasn’t specified any deadline for the upcoming update, it has assured that it is trying its best to bring the update as soon as possible.
The Android 7.0 Nougat update has just started to reach the Nexus smartphones, Android One smartphones, and Pixel C Tablet. After Google officially announced the new Android version on 22nd August, a number of manufacturers have already declared their plans to update their devices. An official of Samsung has said that the Galaxy Note 7 will be updated to the Android Nougat within two to three months. The Taiwan-based manufacturer HTC also confirmed has the newest Android version will be pushed to its HTC One M9, HTC One A9 and HTC 10 soon.
Android Nougat Features: Multi-Window, Direct Reply, more
Android Nougat comes with a lot of interesting features which will improve the productivity significantly. The latest Android comes with Multi-Window mode built in natively into the operating system. Using this, you can run multiple applications simultaneously by dividing the screen into two divisions.
There is also a direct reply option in the notification tray. This will enable you to reply instantly to any notification right from the pull-down menu without the need to open the application. A Quick Switch mode is also present which will let you switch from one app to another just by double clicking the overview button.
Google has increased the battery endurance in the latest Android OS by introducing a smarter Doze mode. The new Doze mode has the capability to detect if it is in transit in some pocket or bag when it automatically terminates unnecessary processes to enhance the battery performance.
The new operating system comes with support for the powerful VulkanTM API. This is one of the most advanced 3D developing API in the market. We can certainly hope to see some of the best graphics intensive game developed for Android soon.
