AMD has announced the launch of new mainstream and eSports ready gaming PCs powered by the 7th generation AMD A-series desktop processors. Equipped with the new AMD AM4 platform, the new gaming PCs provide support for DDR4 memory including the next generation I/O and standards.
Commenting on the release, Kevin Lensing, Corporate VP and general manager of Client Computing at AMD disclosed that the consumer release of new HP and Lenovo designs is an important milestone for AMD. It not only marks a major increase in productivity performance but also empowers it to be ready for the upcoming high-performance Summit Ridge desktop processors featuring Zen cores.
Moreover, the launch of new gaming PCs with the new 7th Generation AMD A-Series desktop processors will bring new dimensions to the streaming video and eSports gaming experiences.
HP and Lenovo to ship with 7th gen AMD A-series processors
Initially available under HP and Lenovo brand, the new gaming PCs is capable of delivering high-speed processing, smooth eSports gaming in addition to enhanced HD and USH streaming capabilities. The new gaming PCs integrated with AMD AM4 processors will be the highest memory bandwidth ever developed for an AMD desktop platform.
7th Generation AMD A processors are energy efficient
The PCs powered by the 7th Generation AMD A-Series processors are dubbed to be productive, immersive and energy efficient with up to four Excavator CPU cores. The processors consist of 65-watt and 35-watt versions with superior power efficiency. The new processors also enable flexible solutions in a wide variety of form factors.
7th Generation AMD A processor offers improved graphics performance
According to sources, the new 7th Generation 65-watt A-Series processor is capable of delivering performance, which could be achieved only at 95-watts with the previous generation. Moreover, the new 65-watt processors are capable of offering equivalent performance similar to that of the Intel Core i5 6500. It also offers up to 99 percent enhanced graphics performance.
Previously codenamed as Bristol Ridge, the 7th Generation AMD A-Series desktop processors provides improved graphics performance. It also supports key video playback features up to 4K Ultra HD in both the popular H.264 and new-and-improved H.265 formats.
The new gaming PCs with new AMD processors will also be equipped with AMD Radeon Graphics Core Next graphics, with full support for Microsoft DirectX 12.
The AMD AM4 processor socket comes with a new unified socket system, which provides compatibility between 7th Generation AMD A-Series processors and the forthcoming “Summit Ridge” AMD desktop CPU. In addition to DDR4 memory, the new AMD AM4 processors provide support for PCIe Gen 3, USB 3.1 Gen 2, NVMe, and SATA Express.
