LG has introduced the G6+ with 128GB storage, Qi wireless charging and the regular G6 with 32GB in new colors in Korea last week and today the smartphones are made available through all the three major domestic carriers. The Korean variant of the G6+ will have the B&O logo on the back of the G6+. They both now support LG’s Pay payment service which is compatible with four credit card brands like the Shinhan, KB, BC, and Lotte and will expand to other brands in September says the company.
Pricing and Availability: The LG G6+ comes in Optical Astro Black, Optical Terra Gold, and Optical Marine Blue colors. It is priced at 957,000 won (US$ 834) while the LG G6 32GB version comes in Astro Black, Ice Platinum and Mystic White colors and costs 819,500 won (US$ 714). LG is offering free display replacement for one year for the G6+.
A new software update to the G6+ and G6 will introduce the new the face recognition function that recognizes your face even when the screen is turned off. Lower power algorithm that is powered by the Qualcomm’s All-Ways Aware technology lowers standby power when the phone is left idle; the technology identifies the user’s location and movements.
The specifications, however, do remain the same on both the handsets. It sports a 5.7-inches QHD+ (1440 × 2880 pixels) LCD display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC coupled with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM with 32GB / 64GB / 128GB (UFS 2.0) internal memory. The smartphones run on Android 7.0 Nougat with LG UX 6.0 with support for Google Assistant.
In the camera department, there is a 13-megapixel dual rear cameras with dual-tone LED Flash, OIS 2.0, 71-degree-wide angle lens with 4K recording capabilities. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel shooter with 100-degree wide-angle lens. It rocks a Fingerprint sensor and has support for Water and dust resistant. A 3300mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support is on board.
