Xiaomi Mi Box 4K Review: Make your TV Smart!

Xiaomi Mi Box 4K

Xiaomi came to the TV Box market with its Xiaomi Mi Box 4K UHD Set Top Box. Xiaomi Mi Box runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes pre-installed with lots of apps for tons of video content. The Mi Box is able to play 4K content easily via any video service on a 4K panel TV. It comes with a powerful hardware and features which makes it an easy companion for all the Android apps and games.

Xiaomi Mi Box comes with all the needed accessories in the box; the Mi Box itself, the Bluetooth voice-enabled remote, HDMI cable and power adapter. The device is very sleek and beautiful, it’s not gonna ruin any part of your beautiful TV setup. No wonder this device won the Good Design award. The remote is Bluetooth enabled and comes with a microphone built in so you can give voice commands to the TV. The remote just have the direction keys, confirm key, home key, back key, voice command key and volume keys.

Setting up the Mi Box on any TV is very easy and simple; just connect the Mi Box to TV via HDMI cable and connect the power adapter. Turn the Mi Box on and you will see the boot animation and the quick setup after that. First, you have to connect it to the WiFi connection and then to your Google account. The setup is very quick and fast, you have to type via the on-screen keyboard and the direction keys on the remote. Other than that, all you have to do is just say it to the remote to search anything on the TV.

The home screen is very basic, there is nothing from Xiaomi anywhere on the Android TV OS. At the very top is the search bar, below that is the suggestions for you from all the apps and below that, you will see all the installed apps which you installed on the PlayStore. At the very below of the home screen is the settings bar where you can access all the settings of the Android TV OS.

Navigation through the home screen is very easy using the Bluetooth remote (don’t have to point it to the TV). The mic takes commands very accurately even in the very noisy room and typing using the microphone is also swift and amazing. There is also an amazing feature called Google Cast, you can cast any content from your smartphone or tablet to your TV easily without any extra device.

In terms of performance, it is a powerful device which can play 4K HDR content for you if your TV is capable of 4K HDR playback. The user interface is very basic and easy, anyone can easily get used to of it quickly after minutes of usage. Overall I am very satisfied with the Mi Box experience and you will be too once you get your hands on it.
