Vivo has added a new member to its Y-Series of phones in India with the launch of the new Y83 smartphone in the country. The phone will be one more in the burgeoning mid-range segment and has enticing specifications to match.
That includes a 6.22-inch HD+ display having a 19:9 aspect ratio, which Vivo claims provides for 15.5 percent more viewing area compared to phones of 16:9 aspect ratio. The new Y83 is also another smartphone to have a notch at the top that is complemented by a thin chin at the bottom, something that Vivo refers to as FullView Display 2.0. That coupled to the 2.5D back cover imparts a svelte and sleek look to the smartphone.
Powering the device is a MediaTek Helio P22 octa core processor that works in conjugation with a 4 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM. The latter again is expandable to a max of 256 GB. A 3260 mAh battery keeps the lights on.
So far as optics are concerned, the Y83 comes with a single 13 MP high definition camera which sort of bucks the trend of dual lens rear camera that has almost become more of the norm than otherwise. The primary camera however is supported by Phase Detection Auto Focussing technology that allows capturing of images on the go.
The front gets a 8 MP selfie cam which again benefits from an AI Face Beauty feature. The same allows for detection of the subject’s features such as gender, age, skin tone, texture as well as the surrounding lighting conditions. It then enhances the image taking into account the above features.
Another unique aspect of the new Y83 is its incorporation of a split screen feature. The same gets activated by sliding down the display using three fingers while the large 19:9 display ensures there is ample screen real estate for comfortable viewing. Colour option for the phone includes Black and Gold.
“Vivo is committed towards introducing innovative products to meet the ever-changing demands of consumers. We are pleased to introduce the Vivo Y83 in our Y series product portfolio with an outstanding performance and superior camera capabilities at an ideal price point,” Vivo CMO Jerome Chen said during the launch.
The phone can be availed of from both Flipkart and Amazon as well as the company’s own online store.
