Three Xiaomi Mi smartphones to receive Android 7.0 Nougat OTA update soon

Even after four months since Google released the next generation Android 7.0 Nougat, only a few manufacturers have released the updates for their handsets. According to latest reports, Xiaomi Mi Note, Mi 4c, Mi 4s, Mi Max will most likely receive Android 7.0 Nougat update within the next few months. However, no specific time frame has been revealed for the launch of the update.

In response to a query posted by a leading tech portal, MIUI operations manager reportedly disclosed that the beta testing of the upcoming software is currently in progress. If you are unaware, Xiaomi will beta test new MIUI software for several months before releasing publicly.

He also added that the Xiaomi Mi 4c, Mi 4s, Mi Note and Mi Max will be the first smartphones expected to receive the Android Nougat update in the forthcoming weeks. However, we don’t have any confirmation about the availability of the update for other smartphones such as Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Redmi 3S, Mi Mix and Mi Note 2. Interestingly, the premium flagship Redmi Note 3 is also committed from the list.

Furthermore, a new post surfaced on the official MIUI forums also signaled the arrival of Android 7.0 Nougat for Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3A in the imminent future.

Even though there is credible information about the availability of the Android Nougat update, the official did not reveal any estimated timeframe. Recently, the purported screenshots of the MIUI 9 user interface with version number 6.9.23 was leaked.

In addition to the multi-window capability, the Android 7.0 Nougat will also ship with several new features such as inline notification, instant messages through notification panel. There are reports that this feature will also work with Telegram Messenger, Hike Messenger, and WhatsApp.

The newly introduced Doze mode enables you to put background apps in hibernation mode when your smartphone display is switched off. We expect Xiaomi to infuse several exclusive features along with Android 7.0 Nougat update.
