Samsung today launched its new Galaxy Tab Iris, priced at Rs. 13,499, at an event in New Delhi. The device made in India is said to feature iris recognition technology that is ready for Aadhar card authentication.
The device is designed to comply with Digital India and E-Citizen campaign, and the biometric technology incorporated seems to be the center of it.
Apart from this, it also allows the startup ecosystem to come up with suitable apps. This contactless technology gives security authentication that has only once been seen before in the country. It will play a major role in helping the banking sector with speed and accuracy.
Besides being politically and socio-economically correct, the Galaxy Tab Iris is a sleek compact device with a 7.0-inch display, 1.2GHz Quad Core processor, 5 MP rear camera, and 3600mAh battery. Other specifications of the device include 1.5GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, which can be expandable up to 200GB.
The other device in India that has the Iris scanner is Microsoft Lumia 950 XL. Priced at Rs. 34,999, it provides much higher level of specs. It packs 1.5 GHz Quad-Core processor, 3GB RAM, and a 20MP rear camera.
The Digital India campaign has inspired the launch of many devices in the recent past. The options range from cheap smartphones to high-end devices across all OS platforms. It complies with the main objective of making technology available to everyone.
