Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 images surfaced reveal mid-level Android smartphone

Korean giant Samsung is one of few remaining manufacturers still producing clamshell or flip phones, a design that was made wildly popular by the likes of Motorola RAZR V3. Alleged specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Folder 2– the successor to 2015’s Galaxy folder, has already received certification from Chinese regulatory agency TENNA. More details about the smartphone have appeared on the web in the form of leaked promotional images. Going by the images, we see a golden variant of the Galaxy Folder 2 sporting a slim metallic body.

Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 Specs

In terms of specs based on the device’s TENAA certification, the Galaxy Folder 2 will feature a 3.8-inch display with a resolution of 800×480 pixels. Powering the smartphone is a quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz bundled with Adreno 308 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. There’s also 128GB of expandable microSD slot for added storage.

As for cameras, the Galaxy Folder 2 sports an 8MP rear-facing camera along with a 5MP front-facing shooter for selfies and video chats. Juicing up the device is a 1950mAh battery. The dual-SIM Galaxy Folder 2 will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.

Besides the Galaxy Folder 2, it appears the Korean manufacturer has another flip phone in the works – the Samsung SM-W2017 (codenamed ‘Veyron‘). The device did surface on the web some time back, but it wasn’t until recently that we got to know more details about the device’s specs. The upcoming Samsung Veyron is said to get a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor bundled with 4GB of RAM.

It is also expected to get a 4.2-inch display and run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. While an Antutu listing suggests that the smartphone will feature a 12MP primary camera, which could be the same camera module found on the company’s flagship Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 7 range.

Moreover, the Samsung SM-W2017 is also expected to pack a 5MP front-facing shooter along with 64GB of built-in storage. However, there’s no information whether it’ll get a microSD slot.  As far as the images are concerned, nothing has been released. There are no rendered images, either. But it is expected that it will be pretty much the same as its predecessor.

The W series is available only in China as of now.  Samsung usually does not bring more than one device every year to its W series. That said, that one device is usually a high-end smartphone. We shall certainly keep our eyes and ears glued on this one. Till then, stay tuned for more.
