Reliance Jio is the sensational startup in India by Mukesh Ambani, the company’s 4G network within no time has overtaken current industry biggies like Airtel, Idea, and Vodafone. Not stopping there, Reliance-backed Jio is all set to introduce DTH services in India very soon. However, there is no official information from Jio just yet, except for the leaks and rumors that surface the internet now and then.
Reliance Jio may soon start optical fiber-backed direct-to-home (DTH) TV services in India to compete with Tata Sky, Airtel DTH and much more in the market. Just like Jio 4G, the company is planning to offer six months free services to customers who opt Jio DTH.
According to recent reports, post the free six-month offer period, the DTH services will cost you Rs. 185 per month which is quite competitive in today’s time. Another report claims that Jio will be providing a setup box similar to Android smart Box or Apple TV which gives users full control over content and also play games and it will come bundled with Jio digital services.
The company will offer over 360 channel of which 50 of them are HD with a seven day catch up option where users can record programs. It is also heard that Jio will partner with Netflix and Amazon to provide more content to users.
A few weeks ago, the DTH setup box of Jio has been leaked giving us a much closer look at the company’s upcoming brand new service. From the leaked images, you can see various ports, it features a standard cable connector port, an HDMI port, a USB port, an audio port, video output ports and an Ethernet port. It would be interesting to see how the Jio DTH would disrupt the DTH market in India. We are yet to hear an official announcement from Jio.
