Reliance Communications has lately turned whole price and data equation upside down. On Tuesday, the company launched a new offer aptly titled “Call Drops Se Chhutkara” which essentially means no more call drops. The company is offering users 7MB 4G LTE per day at just Re. 1. It can be used for any anything, however, the telecom operator is marketing it as 300 minutes of app-to-app calling throughout the period of one month. Readers, however, need to be reminded that the offer mentioned above applies only Reliance 4G LTE users in Delhi-NCR.
Reliance Re. 1 offer: 7MB 4G Data, 300 minutes app-to-app calling
According to RCom, users will have 7MB of data credited daily into their accounts, which means they will get 10 minutes of HD voice calls a day. However, any remaining data from the daily 7MB data credit will get fortified, and not be carried over to the next day.
“We are not bifurcating or dividing the pipe. This is a market positioning so more people get to use our 4G LTE services”, said Gurdeep Singh, chief executive officer, consumer business at RCom.
With the new plan, RCom’s Delhi-NCR pre-paid customers can make international calls via popular data-based Instant Messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Viber, Line, Facebook Messenger along with Google Hangouts.
For now, besides Delhi-NCR, the service is also available in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. The company now plans to roll out the services in other circles as well gradually in a phased manner.
In other related news, Reliance Jio 4G wireless services are also disrupting the whole pricing equation without even being officially launched. The company has been making these SIM cards available with a slew of smartphones, creating a frenzy of sorts with users queuing outside Reliance Digital and other retail stores. As a result, other network carriers like Airtel and Idea have accused Reliance of such practices.
According to them, Reliance has been misleading and is using this ploy as a means to offer free services and attract customers, thereby taking away revenue from the government in the process. In response, Reliance has issued a warning saying it’ll sue Airtel and other involved for defamation over such charges.
