Microsoft launches AIO Surface Studio PC: Specifications and price details

Microsoft has unveiled the much-awaited Microsoft Surface Studio all-in-one PC with a 28-inch PixelSense touchscreen display. According to sources, the display is designed in a thinner fashion with a 3:2 display ratio. The main attraction of Surface Studio is the integration of a haptic feedback controller puck gadget.

According to Panos Panay, the display integrated with the Surface Studio is designed to immerse the user as much as possible. This is made possible by using 13.5 million pixels to make for a 192 PPI density that doesn’t reveal individual pixels no matter where you are viewing from.

Microsoft Surface Studio features

Microsoft has also integrated TrueColor feature, which enables creators to “render the world… as he or she believes it needs to be rendered.” Moreover, the display also offers True Scale, which enables you to display print products at actual scale on the display.

During the launch event, Panay revealed that One inch on the screen is one inch in real life. Furthermore, the hinge consists of two chrome arms attached to the base.

The display features a linear mic array, which is capable of picking up a user’s voice from across the room. Hence, you will be able to interact with Cortana easily because of integrated Echo-type effect speaker system on board.

Microsoft Surface Studio specifications

Microsoft Surface Studio features an Intel Core processor, 32GB RAM, 2TB hybrid storage, four USB 3 ports, Mini DisplayPort, Ethernet, audio including a newly introduced radial input Surface Dial with haptic feedback. You will find speakers, ports and drive on the base, which is a short square box located between the chrome supports under the display.

The newly launched Surface Studio also provides support for Surface Pen. The Surface Dial helps you to work with the display in a unique way with the required software tools like color sliders in various apps. The Surface Dial is a new input device with global controls embedded into it. This means that it will work throughout Windows at the system level.

While Panay was delivering his speech, Madefire founder Ben Wolstenholme entered the stage and explained how he used to do the same workflow on paper and in multiple steps. He revealed that the same work can be done digitally right on the Surface Studio, complete with assigning handy shortcuts like zooming for detailed inking to the Dial.

Microsoft has thrown open Surface Dial to developers to enable them to create on-screen use cases. This includes changing color, adjusting scale and switching between tools on the fly.

Microsoft Surface Studio availability and pricing

Even though you can pre-order Surface Studio at $2999, the gadget will ship in limited quantities by the end of November. However, the Surface Studio will be available for hands-on demos starting October 27 in Microsoft stores.
