LG V20 vs iPhone 7 Plus: Does LG flagship stands tall against Apple?

LG’s second addition to V-series smartphones is here. LG V20 holds some of the features as of LG V10 with upgraded hardware. The camera is now dual lens setup, but the display is the same as LG V10; 5.7 Quad HD with 513 ppi pixel density. The biggest upgrade is the camera, so we are comparing it to one of the best smartphones with dual camera setup, Apple iPhone 7 Plus. Let us see where LG V20 stands against it.

LG V20 vs iPhone 7 Plus: Design

LG revamped the whole design in V20 by making it full metal and increasing the screen to body ratio to make it look better. The secondary touch display is placed right where it was on LG V10; above the primary display with the wide-angle selfie camera. The back panel is still removable, and you can remove the battery as well.

Apple’s iPhone is a metallic unibody smartphone with a unique design which everyone knows about. iPhone 7 Plus is also carrying the same design but this time with new colours; black with the matte finish, jet black with the super glossy finish, rose gold and gold. iPhone 7 Plus features dual camera setup on the back for optical zoom and quad LED dual tone flash.

LG V20 vs iPhone 7 Plus: Camera

Both the smartphones come with the dual camera; LG V20 holds up two cameras on the back including one 16 MP shooter with f/1.8 aperture size and one 8 MP shooter with f/2.4 aperture size. For the super fast focus, there is laser sensor and the LED flash. This camera is capable of shooting 4K videos at 30 frames per second and 720 at 120 frames per second.

Apple iPhone 7 Plus comes with dual 12 MP with different aperture size; f/1.8 and f/2.8. This dual setup helps the phone to zoom onto the subject 2X optically which goes up to 10X using the digital zoom. To capture bright colours, iPhone 7 Plus features a quad LED dual tone flash and phase detection autofocus helps to focus on the subject quickly.

Operating System

LG V20 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box which can be further upgraded to Android 7.1 Nougat in future updates. The whole OS is skinned with LG UX 5.0 which also operated the secondary display placed above the primary display of LG V series smartphones. LG removed the app drawer button from its new UI, and all the apps are on the desktop now.

Apple iPhone 7 Plus comes with iOS 10.0.1 installed which is further upgradable to iOS 10.1 with more features and apps. As all, you know that iOS 10 is Apple’s very own operating system and iOS 10 is the latest addition to this OS series with some of the best features ever.

Performance

There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 inside the LG V20; it’s a quad core processor which includes two dual-core Kryo chips clocked at 2.15 GHZ and 1.6 GHz respectively. For best gaming and multitasking performance, LG V20 comes with 4 GB RAM and Adreno 530 GPU which is enough for rendering the best Android games out there.

Apple iPhone 7 Plus features Apple’s latest A10 Fusion chip which is a quad-core processor with a frequency of 2.23 GHz. The graphics processor is not revealed yet, but Apple told us in Keynote that the graphics processor is six cores which are the best mobile GPU yet. iPhone’s don’t need much RAM, but Apple added 3 GB RAM in Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus.

Conclusion

LG is working hard to make its smartphones better, but there is no way it can beat the master (iPhone 7 Plus). Yes, the hardware is good, and it can be the best for a person who wants an Android smartphone with latest specifications.
