iPhone 8 rumors: iPhone 2017 dual-lens camera to feature optical image stabilization

Apple is expected to integrate optical image stabilization to both lenses (rear/front and dual-lens) in the forthcoming iPhone 2017. According to a note published by KGI, the main reason for the adoption of the technology in both rear and front sensors is because of the rapid adoption of the image circle in the telephoto. Moreover, there is a necessity to completely refresh the telephoto lens to accommodate the stabilizing technology.

There are reports that Largan will continue to supply camera modules for Apple. Based on the rumors of possible new technology in iPhone 8, companies such as Sony, LG Innotek, and Sharp are likely to get benefit since they will be involved in the supply of various parts and modules.

iPhone 8 expected in three variants

As per the rumors, you can expect three variants of iPhone in 2017. The Cupertino-based giant will release a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch LCD display alongside an OLED version of an undisclosed size. You can expect the 5.5-inch and OLED models to integrate the dual-lens camera with universal optical image stabilization.

iPhone 8 will see spike in technology adoption

If the prediction of KGI turns out to be true, you can expect a surge in technology from the existing 15 to 50 percent by December 31, 2017. If the adoption rate turns out to be higher, the analyst company predicts that nearly 85 percent of the iPhone user base will have access to the dual-lens technology by December 2018.

Apple has implemented a new six-element lens and features a high-speed 12MP sensor. According to Apple, the iPhone 7 is 60 percent faster and 30 percent energy efficient than previous iPhone cameras.

If you look at the iPhone 7 Plus, you will be able to find a telephoto lens, coupled with a dedicated sensor. It provides support for 2x optical zoom, which brings the zoom range to 10x. Moreover, the aperture on the telephoto is smaller than the wide-angle lens pegged at f/2.8 aperture without optical image stabilization feature.
