Korean giant Hyundai has launched its much-anticipated next-generation Hyundai Elantra in India. The sedan has been launched at an introductory price of Rs. 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will be available in both petrol and diesel options across five variants which reportedly include – S, SX, SX AT, SX(O), SX(O) AT. The new Elantra gets several design overhauls making it more appealing and streamlined than its outgoing version. The new Elantra also features a slew of major upgrades such as extended length and width for a spacier cabin, along with a lighter construction that keeps noise levels inside the cabin much lower.

Hyundai Elantra 2016 Specs and Features
Besides, the sixth-generation Elantra also features improved safety equipment and revamped interiors.
For instance, its gets seven airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Traction Control, tyre-pressure monitoring system along with Anti-Lock Braking System. While the interior is completely black with silver and Chrome accents giving it that premium look and feel. It also comes with support for Apple CarPlay, navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, sunroof and a start/stop button.
Under the hood, the Elantra gets powered by a 2.0-litre MPI petrol engine that produces 152 PS of power and 190 Nm of torque. While the diesel variant features a 1.6-litre CRDi engine that churns out 128 PS and 265 Nm of torque. The engines are mated to a 6-speed gearbox which comes as standard in both variants, while a 6-speed automatic will be optional. The Elantra’s fuel efficiency has been reportedly touted at 22.4 kmpl for diesel MT and 14.6 kmpl for petrol.

The 2016 Hyundai Elantra is being offered in five color options – Marina Blue, Polar White, Sleek Silver, Phantom Black and Red Passion The sedan will be competing against the likes of the Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Jetta, Skoda Octavia, Chevrolet Cruze along with the upcoming Honda Civic.
