Lately, the Chinese giant Huawei has been teasing its upcoming Huawei Y9 (2019) smartphone on Amazon.in. Now, the company has released the media invites for the same, confirming the arrival of Huawei Y9 (2019) in India.
To recall, the mid-range smartphone was first launched in China, back in October as a successor to the Y9 (2018). Hence, we already have information about its design and specifications.
The Huawei Y9 (2019) will be launched in the country on 7th of January at an event scheduled in New Delhi. The pricing will be announced at the event itself, and the handset is pitted to be sold exclusively via Amazon.in.
The notable highlights of the device are its notched display, dual rear cameras, a massive 4,000mAh battery, and Kirin 710 processor. Let’s talk about the same in detail.
Huawei Y9 (2019) Specifications, Features
The Huawei Y9 (2019) sports a large 6.5-inch Full View display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2340 × 1080 pixels. The screen further boasts of a 19:5:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass on top.
Under the hood, the Y9 (2019) gets powered by HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC coupled with ARM Mali-G51 MP4 GPU for graphics. It is the same 12nm-based chipset that we’ve seen on the Honor 8X and Huawei Nova 3i. Moreover, the smartphone comes in two different configurations including 4GB RAM + 64GB and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage options. We are unsure about which one will make it to India.
In the optics department, the handset gets a dual camera setup at the rear. The installation comprises of a 16-megapixel main sensor with f/2.0 aperture. There’s also a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Up front, we have yet another pair of dual shooters. It includes a 13-megapixel primary unit with f/1.8 aperture alongside a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
On the software front, the Y9 (2019) runs on EMUI 8.2 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. A large 4,000mAh battery with fast charging backs all of this.
Additional features include GPU Turbo and AI Power 7.0 for better performance and power efficiency. The phone also incorporates Fingerprint 4.0 identification technology that is claimed to unlock the smartphone in 0.3 seconds.
Lastly, the connectivity options like Bluetooth v5, Micro USB, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) and GPS + GLONASS are present on board.
Huawei Y9 (2019) Price & Availability (Expected)
The Huawei Y9 (2019) is expected to arrive in Midnight Black, Aurora Purple, Sapphire Blue colour options. Looking at the prices in other regions, Y9 may land in India for somewhere around 15-20K (given that Huawei isn’t that aggressive as far as mid-range smartphones are concerned).
