Honor 7X gets updated to Android Oreo with EMUI 8.0

HONOR 7X

Huawei starts rolling out a new update for the Honor 7X based on Android 8.0 OS. The latest EMUI 8.0 update for the mid-range Honor 7X handset brings several improvements and features which are promised to offer a quality user experience.

EMUI 8.0 brings new features such as smart resolution, navigation bar customisations, as well as dynamic wallpaper. Besides, the update arrives with three new modes called Ride mode, Game suite, and Shortcut to Paytm.

Ride mode is designed to offer safe smartphone usage while users are riding two-wheelers. Once activated, the caller gets a notification that the user is currently driving and is unable to answer calls. Though in case of an emergency, the caller can call the rider by pressing numeric-1.

Up next, the Game Suite mode is designed to offer an uninterrupted gaming experience. Once enabled, the mode hides all on-screen notifications, and the device won’t ring or vibrate for calls. However, users will still see notifications for incoming calls, alarms, and low battery.

The Game Suite mode also allows users to activate Gaming Mode – where phone’s hardware and software gets optimized for gaming. It also includes the Power Saving mode where the phone gets optimized for efficient battery management. Finally, there’s also a Smart Mode that automatically optimises the handset depending on the current usage to balance power consumption and performance.

Thirdly, the Short Cut to Paytm Mode in the EMUI 8.0 update for Honor 7X brings Paytm integration. It allows users to access to PayTM payment page by assigning a unique fingerprint, which takes users directly to the payments page.

Elsewhere, the new update also brings features such as one-hand operation, pinned shortcuts, simplified settings, customised themes, and more. Being an OTA update, EMUI 8.0 for the Honor 7x is being rolled out in phases. A small percentage of users will shortly get the update, while a broader rollout is expected to begin in the next few days. Users can also manually check for the update by heading over to Settings> System Updates.
