The iPad lineup is one of the most selling product line by Apple, and now it appears as if the company is preparing to ditch the iPad mini. These tidings however, have not been confirmed by the company.
From our experience of Apple, it is best to wait for an official statement from the company. It is expected that the announcement could be made at the WWDC that will be held in San Jose from 7th to 9th June.
The iPad mini was lauched in 2012, and was expected to fend off competition from Google Nexus and Amazon Kindle Fire. The market has changed now, and with smartphones with massive screens taking over the market, the market for smart size tabs has come down.
Reports suggest that the biggest reason for the company’s decision is the decline in sales. As for a market that has grown a liking for smartphones with big screens, Apple already has the iPhone 6s and 7 Plus. The 9.7-inch iPad costs $429 in the US and the iPad Mini costs only $30 less.
Owing to the market conditions, tablet sales have been going down all around the world. Despite that Apple CEO Tim Cook is positive and has the iPad pegged to be the best alternative to the PC. It is also rumoured that a 10.5-inch variant of the iPad pro will be revealed at the upcoming WWDC.
The event will host developers and creators from around the globe along with over a thousand Apple engineers. In other words its a perfect platform for such a release.
