Mid-range smartphone segment in India has seen a major growth of over 158 percent in the last year, thanks to many Chinese companies like Xiaomi, Oppo, Motorola and Lenovo, the mid-range segment is flooded with tons of smartphones. Up until today, Apple’s primary focus has always been the premium segment, realizing the importance of that segment in India, Apple too has decided to follow the same bandwagon.
According to a report coming in from Economic times, Apple is gearing up to enter the highly competitive mid-range segment. The Cupertino-based company has chosen the iPhone 5s as it’s weapon, the device is expected to go on for sale for Rs. 15,000 in India very soon.
Though the iPhone 5s is a 2013 model, it is a sensational device in India with 20 percent of total Apple’s iPhone sales in India. Apple’s perfect blend of software updates and great hardware-software optimization makes up for the age-old specs sheet. It is already known the fact that Apple has got Government clearance to manufacture iPhones in India under the ‘Make in India’ campaign.
Apart from iPhone 5s, the iPhone SE has also got a price cut and will go on for sale for Rs.20,000 and will enter the offline market very soon. The decision took in implementation after witnessing a drop in iPhone’s sale in Q1 and Q2 2016. The company is also likely to open up a development center in Hyderabad and made the announcement of a design center in Bengaluru. Theses all are positive signs of Apple’s growing interest towards the Indian market.
