Sony had already confirmed that Android 9 Pie update will arrive on the Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Premium, Xperia XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1, and Xperia XZ1 Compact by early November. Now, it appears the company is living up to that promise as users in the US and Europe have started reporting on Reddit about the availability of the update on their Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact devices.

Hence, if you’re living in one of these regions and do not yet see an update notification, you’re advised to head over to your handset’s Settings menu and manually check for the update. The update weighs nearly 1GB in size, so users are recommended to install the update over a reliable Wi-Fi or 4G connection. Also, users are advised to make sure their handset’s battery has sufficient charge before they start the installation process.

Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact users can now get a taste of Android Pie thanks to Sony. The new update several brings several improvements and features ranging from improved battery life and new ways to multi-task.

It also brings a new gaming mode which gives users more control over 3rd party calls and notifications for a seamless gaming experience. Other notable features include support for dual-cameras and notch, gestures for navigation, a redesigned launcher and a notifications panel, and more.

With the Android 9 Pie reportedly arriving on the two aforementioned Xperia handsets, it’s safe to assume that other compatible Xperia smartphones will also get the update soon.

That being said, it’s still unclear whether Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact users outside of Europe and US have started receiving the update on their handsets. Let us know in the comments below if the Android 9 Pie update has arrived on your Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact devices.
