Liwan Jiang, Co-Founder and Senior Vice President of Xiaomi, has confirmed the launch of company’s new flagship smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 5 in China on 8 February, 2016. However, Jiang has not disclosed any information about the availability and international launch.
Xiaomi is on the right path and scheduled to launch its flagship Mi 5 smartphone after the upcoming Spring Festival, which runs for 15 days from February 8.
As per the previous experiences, Xiaomi has a habit of launching new smartphones in emerging markets like India soon after its official launch in China. No surprise, if the company launches the smartphone simultaneously in China and India.
Recently, Jiang had disclosed before the media that the Mi 5 has entered mass production stage. To cope up with the huge initial demand like in the past, Xiaomi is making sure to have enough units in hand before the official launch.
Xiaomi predicts an enormous spike in the demand for Mi 5 especially with several teasers going on in public. Moreover, the specifications and images were leaked on the web and widely reported by tech enthusiasts globally over the last few months.
Equipped with a 5.2-inch IPS (565 PPI) display with either Full HD or QHD resolution, Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to ship with Snapdragon 820 processor and 3GB RAM.
As per the leaks, Xiaomi Mi 5 will also be available in 4GB RAM in addition to a possibility of both 32GB and 64GB internal storage variants. Coming to imaging department, Mi 5 is expected to pack a 16MP primary camera, which is supported by a 13MP front-facing camera.
Powered with a 3,600mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology, Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow interfaced with MIUI 7.
