WhatsApp has finally arrived for Jio Phone. The instant-messaging giant officially confirmed the rollout and added that WhatsApp will be available for all Jio users by September 20.
“Millions of people across India can now use WhatsApp private messaging on the best-in-class JioPhone across India. By designing this new app for KaiOS, we hope to expand the ability for people to communicate with anyone in India and around the world by offering the best messaging experience possible to Jio Phone users,” said ” said Chris Daniels, Vice President, WhatsApp, in a press release.
WhatsApp for Jio Phone also gets end-to-end encryption just like in Android or iOS. It will also allow users to record and send voice messages. However, WhatsApp for Jio Phone does not allow users to make payments – a feature that recently arrived on Android and iOS devices.
How to download WhatsApp on your Jio Phone:
To begin with, users need to go to JioStore and install WhatsApp. However, they’ll need to ensure that their Jio Phone is running the latest OS in order to ensure that WhatsApp works on their device. Finally, users will need to verify their phone number to start using the instant messaging app. WhatsApp will be available on the JioPhone Appstore starting Sept. 10, and will be rolled out on all JioPhones by Sept. 20.
WhatsApp has a solid user base of over 200 monthly active users in India. With the rollout of WhatsApp on Jio Phone, this number is expected to reach a new milestone.
