WhatsApp is gearing up to integrate a video streaming feature on the platform within a week after it rolled out video calling facility. The new video streaming feature was spotted on WhatsApp beta version 2.16.365 for users on Android platform.
With the introduction of video streaming functionality, you will be able to view a shared video even while it is downloading. You will find an option to stream the video.
As of writing this, the video streaming feature is available for WhatsApp beta version 2.16.365. However, you require an Android phone to test drive the functionality. To begin with, you will only view a video shared after it is fully downloaded.
How does the new WhatsApp video streaming feature work?
Interestingly, WhatsApp has replaced the download button with the play button. This will enable you to stream video while it is still buffering. If you look at the newly introduced feature, you will know that it is similar to streaming videos online on YouTube.
Even though the video streaming is in the experimental phase, we expect the new feature to be launched globally within the next few days.
Recently, the Facebook-owned messaging platform rolled out video calling for Android, iOS, and Windows users. The feature was introduced via simple update with a simple interface.
