Best upcoming smartphones 2016 in India: iPhone 7, Galaxy S8, Nokia P1

The first half of this year was occupied by flagships and their rumours. The possibilities that all the chit chat has left us with seems truly unfathomable. However, there are some that are relatively realistic, and though Jon Snow might not know anything about them, he won’t have to wait until next year to find out about them. Here are some of the biggest upcoming smartphones 2016 to release in India.

Apple iPhone 7

Here we go with all the anticipation about this little rich boy! The iPhones have always been one of the most anticipated phones of the year. It doesn’t matter if most of the anticipating population does not end up buying it.

It looks like this one is going to come with its mate, the iPhone 7 Plus this year. Among the biggest rumours associated with the two, the biggest ones are the possibility of a Dual-SIM and them being waterproof.

All hell broke loose when the story about Rock Fix, a Chinese repair company receiving parts of the device with a dual-SIM tray broke out. Although, there wasn’t much evidence to support it.

The other biggest rumour associated with this device is waterproofing. There is some proof of this. Earlier this year, Apple Inc had got patents from the US patent office for the technology. A bonus word around the block has been that there will be no separate provision for an audio jack. The lightning port will serve the purpose.

The other specs are said to be mostly the same as the previous ones: 1/2GB RAM, metal body, etc. However, the 16GB storage variant could be completely dropped.

Samsung Galaxy S8

Said to be a flagship with minimal bezel, this one could have a curved edge display on both sides. The second biggest story associated with this one is that it could come with an iris scanner (lets see what loopholes the “creative” ones come up with on this one).

Moving on to the biggest story here, it is said that not only will the retina camera use three different lenses (the three-eyed raven sees everything) to identify the eye print, but also the primary camera will have double focus.

As is expected from the Samsung flagships especially the Galaxy S series, the display could be something to watch out for. The obvious assumptions here are that it will have a 4K Ultra HD display, with improved VR capabilities. Getting more and more impossible to wait for this one.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Another one that the South-Korean co. has been hiding under its belly. I could have used the phrase ‘up its sleeve’ but, let’s face it, none of these smartphones can be hidden up one’s sleeve. The allegedly 5.7-inch display could have a 515 ppi density and be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

September end is expected to host the launch of Android Nougat, and it is likely that this one is the first device after the Nexus featuring it.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Mi Note 2

To begin with, this one is said to be released on the 25th of this month (not a rumour). However, the speculations about the specs haven’t dried up. The key expected speculations include a 5.7-inch display (yes, it could be another phablet), 6GB RAM in the highest variant of the three(here we go again.. Another Chinese company offering high-end specs).

The MIUI is one of the best UI’s around the block, and that is why this device had to be on no. 4.(apologies in advance) May the 4th be with us!

Nokia P1

The only reason this one deserves a mention is that the slow journey to the demise of the brand has been painful not only to the parent companies but also for us. Foxconn bought the brand from Microsoft, earlier this year, and we hope that they make good on their reputation in the manufacturing sector. The Nokia P1 is said to have a 5.5-inch display, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and could come with Android 6.0.

Other devices worth a mention are Microsoft Lumia 1330, Sony Xperia X Premium and HTC One (M8i).
