Samsung has now launched a new productive tablet, dubbed as Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 in India. The device comes with a military grade build, waterproof design, a replaceable battery, and a fingerprint scanner as a biometric authentication to secure sensitive information. There’s also a Pogo Pin connector. Using the same, users can easily connect keyboard besides charging more than two devices with the newly launched tablet.

Made for use in rough scenarios, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 is designed to withstand drops, dust and rain. With an IP68 rating, it can be submerged into 1.5-metre deep water for 30 minutes. Moreover, it can be used even in extreme weather conditions with the temperature ranging from -20°C to 71°C. Samsung has also provided with enhanced touch support, accompanied by S Pen integration and a defence-grade Knox security platform for protection against malware and hacks. He added further, “The product will suit the demands of field professionals across sectors like defence, law enforcement, transportation, e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing, and many others by allowing the field managers to oversee the operations digitally.”

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 sports an 8-inch WXGA TFT LCD display with 800 x 1280 resolution. The screen further touts Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Under the hood, the tablet is powered by Exynos 7870 chipset with 1.6GHz octa-core CPU and the Mali-T830 GPU. There’s 3GB of RAM clubbed with 16GB of onboard storage. Notably, one can expand the room further up to 512GB via a microSD card.

As for the optics, Galaxy Tab Active has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The front camera can also be used for unlocking the device via facial recognition. On the software front, the tablet runs Android 7 Nougat and is backed by a 4,450mAh battery. Worth mentioning, the battery is removable and can be replaced by the user.

Lastly, the connectivity options like 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, pogo pin connector, and a USB Type-C port are present onboard. Besides, there’s also an accelerometer, ambient light, fingerprint, geomagnetic, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 has been priced at Rs. 50,990 in India for the lone model with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. It is tipped to go on sale in the country starting mid-March. To recall, the tablet was first unveiled in Netherland back in October 2017.
