Remember the Galaxy A9s event in China where the South Korean giant teased its upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8s with an in-display camera? Since then, the device has been appearing in subsequent leaks and reports. Following the same, a new report reveals the full specifications of the smartphone.

As per the report from AllAboutSamsung, the Samsung Galaxy A8s will come with a 6.39-inch Infinity-O LCD panel having a Full-HD+ resolution. If stories are to be believed, Samsung will be sourcing this panel from Chinese display maker BOE which sounds weird given that the company already excels in making industry leading smartphone displays. Moreover, it will also feature a hole in the active display area for housing the front camera.

Under the hood, the device will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB storage, expandable via microSD card (up to 512GB).Galaxy A8s

Talking of the optics, the Galaxy A8s is said to feature a triple camera setup at the rear, comprising of 24-megapixel, 5-megapixel, and 10-megapixel sensors. Whereas, a 24-megapixel selfie shooter will sit in the display hole sized 6.7mm.

Lastly, the phone measures 159.11×74.88×7.38mm and packs in a 3,400mAh battery. We may also see the support for fast charging and recently unveiled OneUI running on latest Android Pie with optimizations for the in-display camera.

The report further claims that the company will be unwrapping it in a Black-Grey gradient colour option by January 2019.

In the meanwhile, the popular tipster Ice Universe has leaked an alleged screen protector of the Galaxy A8s. As evident, the image showcases a round cutout on the top left corner, where the selfie camera will be placed under the panel. Further, he claims that the device will come this year, in December itself.

That being said, it will be interesting to see how the actual implementation will go. The idea of in-display camera is definitely a lot better than traditional notches. There are certain rumours which claim that the next year’s Samsung Galaxy S10 too will get a smaller and more refined cut-out for the camera, however, it’s still unclear whether a specific model or all four models will witness this trade-off. The Chinese giant Huawei too seems to be pacing up for launching the same tech with its Nova 4 before Samsung does! Let’s wait and keep an eye out for the same. Stay tuned.
