Airtel has announced the launch of a special 4G data package that offers 90 days free data from the date of activation. While the newly launched offer is available for Rs. 1495 for existing users, new customers will be able to avail the offer upon the first recharge of Rs. 1494. However, the new pack is currently available in Delhi but will be expanded to other major cities over the next few days.
Commenting on the launch, Ajai Puri, Director – Operations (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel disclosed that the company is focused on providing great value to customers. Puri said that customers with 4G smartphones manufactured by premium companies generally consume a huge chunk of data. The newly launched package is designed to cater to their requirements.

With the help of the new 90 days free data pack, customers will be able to stay online round the clock without having to worry about exhausting their data limits or going for frequent recharges, the company revealed in a statement to the press. Airtel 90 day’s free data pack to combat Reliance Jio
Reliance Jio launched on August 15 by Mukesh Ambani has amassed a large number of consumers through its free data and voice for 90 days including a free SIM. The company has simplified the process for obtaining the connection. By keeping the default plan to under Rs. 150, the company managed to pull it plugs among younger generation and professionals.
4G data rates slashed by 67 percent
With the launch of Reliance Jio, other mobile service providers are finding it difficult to combat the price war competition. The companies like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea have slashed data rates by up to 67 percent. According to industry analysts, the new offering by Reliance Jio is to be seen as a fresh response by the market leader to garner user base during the beginning. This is also done with the intent to retain its massive customer base.
BSNL also to launch free plan from January 2017
There are reports that BSNL is also gearing up to launch free voice and data plans to 2G and 3G consumers by January 2017. According to sources, the upcoming free plans will be lower than Rs. 149 offered by Reliance Jio.
Meanwhile, Anupam Shrivastava, chairman and managing director, BSNL said that the company is closely monitoring the activities of Reliance Jio which includes the overall performance. He confirmed that there will be new free plan launch in January 2016 but declined to reveal any further information.
It’s good to note that companies are coming forward with free voice and data plans. But it should not affect the mobile transmission. Moreover, companies should keep a check on possible abuse of free plans by consumers.
