Redmi Note 7 to launch in India on February 28

Redmi India, today, has finally wrapped off the launch date of the all-new Redmi Note 7 smartphone. Unveiled in China earlier last month, the Redmi Note 7 will now be launched in India on February 28. Notably, the launch event will be held in New Delhi. Fans can buy the tickets for the same via the official website for Rs. 480.

The same was confirmed via a tweet from the sub-brands official Twitter handle. The launch teaser reads a tacky upside-down hashtag that reads #thuglife besides a large “7” that denotes Redmi Note 7. The company has also announced that it’ll do a giveaway of the upcoming smartphone if the tweet manages to grab 4,800 retweets.

Redmi Note 7 Specifications, Features

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 sports a large 6.3-inch LTPS display with a full-HD+ resolution of 1080×2340 pixels. It also boasts of a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, thanks to the small dew-drop notch on top. The panel further touts a 450 nits brightness, 84% NTSC colour gamut and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with 2.5D curved glass protection on top. Xiaomi claims it to bear a screen-to-body ratio of 84%.

Under the hood, the device gets powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz, coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. The handset comes in 3/32GB, 4/64GB, 6/64GB RAM and storage variants with the option to expand further up to 256GB using a microSD card. As of now, we have no confirmation regarding which variants will make it to India.

In the optics department, Note 7 gets a dual camera setup at the back. The setup comprises a 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 sensor. It is used for outputting 12 MP images with large 1.6 μm pixels and real-time HDR due to the Quad-Bayer filter. There’s also a 5-megapixel depth sensor for portraits. At the front, we have a 13-megapixel selfie shooter with AI face unlock, AI smart beauty, and other nifty AI features.

The Redmi Note 7 runs MIUI 9 based on Android Oreo. Above all, it is backed by a massive 4000mAh with a type-C USB charging port and a standard 5V/2A charger in the box. Nonetheless, the device also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 with supported charging bricks.

Sensors on board consist of a gyroscope, accelerometer, distance sensor, electronic compass, ambient light, and an infrared sensor. Lastly, the connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5, 4G VoLTE, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Not to mention, the Redmi Note 7 price in China starts at CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 10,300) for the base model with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage option is priced at CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs. 12,400) whereas the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model costs CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs. 14,500). Looking at the history, we expect the device to land somewhere under 15K in India to overcome the stiff competition from Asus, Honor, and Nokia.
