Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro launched in India: Price starts at Rs. 9,999

As scheduled, Realme has unveiled the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro smartphones today in India. Alongside, the company has also launched the next-gen Realme Buds 2 and Iconic case for both the devices.

Notably, the Realme 5 is the first smartphone in India to feature the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC. The Pro, on the other hand, comes with Snapdragon 712, akin to the Vivo Z1 Pro. Let’s talk about their specifications ad features in detail.

Realme 5 Specs, Features

The Realme 5 comes with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display having an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. Furthermore, the panel bears a water-drop notch and boasts an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 89%. It is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Under the hood, the device gets powered by 11nm-based octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, which is a successor to the Snapdragon 660. The device packs 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB storage that is expandable up to 256GB.

For photography, the phone gets an AI-powered quad-camera module at the rear. It comprises of a 12MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, followed by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter (119-degree FOV), and dual-2MP macro and portrait cameras.

For selfies, it gets a 13MP AI-front camera with AI Beautification, HDR, Panoramic View, and Timelapse features. The rear camera sports HDR, Nightscape, and Slo-mo and is capable of recording 4K at 30fps.

On the software front, the Realme 5 runs ColorOS 6 based on Android 9 Pie. All of this is backed by a massive 5,000mAh battery which doesn’t support any sort of fast charging capabilities. Lastly, the connectivity features onboard include Dual nano-sim cards, dedicated microSD card, VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, micro USB, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Realme 5 Pro Specs, Features

The Realme 5 Pro, on the other hand, sports a full-HD+ 6.5-inch panel with a water-drop notch and a higher screen-to-body ratio of 90.8%.

The device is powered by 10nm-based octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. One can further expand the storage up to 256GB using the given microSD card.

In the camera department, the phone bears a 48MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture. Whereas, the other three are the same wide-angle, macro, and portrait sensors (8MP + 2MP + 2MP) from the younger sibling. For selfies, there’s a 16MP AI front camera with f/2.0 aperture and AI beautification features.

Compared to the 5,000mAh cell on the former, the Pro model gets a smaller 4,035mAh battery but with support for 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging. Connectivity options remain the same.

Pricing & Availability

As noted, the Realme 5 price in India starts at Rs. 9,999 for the base model with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Whereas, the 4/64GB and 4/128GB models are priced at Rs. 10,999 and Rs. 11,999, respectively. The Realme 5 Pro, on the other hand, starts at Rs. 13,999 for the 4/64GB version. Following the same, the 6/64GB and 8/128GB models are priced at Rs. 14,999 and Rs. 16,999, respectively.

Notably, the former will go for sale in Crystal Blue and Crystal Purple options, starting August 27. Whereas, the Pro model will be available in Crystal Green and Crystal Blue, alongside Realme Buds 2 (Rs. 599) starting from September 4. Both the devices will be sold via Flipkart and Realme.com and will soon be made available in offline stores.

Realme will also be selling additional accessories including Realme Iconic Case for Realme 5 series priced at Rs. 399 with sales starting September 21 and Realme Tote bag priced Rs. 1,199 to be made available from September 4.
