After launching the device in a couple of markets, the Chinese giant is all set to unveil its flagship Oppo R17 Pro smartphone in India at an event scheduled for December 4 in Mumbai.

The confirmation for the same comes through the media invites sent by the company. Talking of the R17 Pro, it is a premium offering by OPPO that brings in a stunning glass sandwich design with a water-drop notch upfront and gradient finish at the back. Key highlights of the phone include an In-Display fingerprint scanner, triple rear cameras, and Snapdragon 710 chipset.

There is also a toned-down variant named as Oppo R17 which we don’t see coming to India as for now. As far as the specs are concerned, the Oppo R17 Pro sports a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution of 1080×2340 pixels in a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It further boasts an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 91.5 %.

Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC coupled with Adreno 616 GPU, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

As for the optics, the Oppo R17 Pro bears a triple camera setup at the back, featuring a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.5-2.4 variable aperture, a 20-megapixel sensor with f/2.6 aperture, accompanied by a Time Of Flight 3D stereo camera that captures depth information for 3D-like photos. There is also an AI-powered 25-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture at the front.

On the software terms, the handset runs on ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Moving on, it draws its juice from a large 3,700mAh battery that supports 40W SuperVOOC fast charging, touted to charge the phone from 0 to 40 percent in just 10 minutes.

The phone also incorporates Face unlock in addition to the in-display fingerprint scanner. Lastly, the connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.

The R17 Pro retails for CNY 4,299 in China which roughly translates to Rs. 44,000. Although the Indian price is yet to be known, we expect the device to carry a similar price tag. It will be available in two color options including Condensed Green and Fog gradient with the pre-orders starting from Dec 1. Stay tuned.
