OPPO R15x unveiled in China, comes with Water-drop Notch and In-Display FP Scanner

OPPO R15X

Putting a full stop to the leaks and rumors over the past week, Oppo has silently unveiled the all-new OPPO R15x smartphone in its home country. Although the device is yet to be announced completely, the Chinese giant has already confirmed the pricing of the device along with a few of its key features like the Under display fingerprint scanner through the listing on its e-commerce platform.

Digging more into detail, the phone seems to be pretty much the same Oppo K1 which was launched by the company around two weeks ago, counting in the design and known specifications.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Oppo R15X sports a large 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. As mentioned, below the display resides an Under-display Optical fingerprint scanner from the house of Synaptics. The phone bears an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 91%, thanks to the little water drop notch.

While the listing doesn’t reveal the processor being used, it is reported to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, reminiscent to the Oppo K1. However, looking at the higher price tag of the device, one can also expect the newer Snapdragon 670 or 710 chipset. Furthermore, the hybrid microSD card slot will allow for the storage expansion up to 256GB.

In the Optics department, the R15x is most likely to bear the same dual rear cameras from the Oppo K1, featuring a 16-megapixel primary sensor with a f/1.7 aperture along with a 2-megapixel secondary depth shooter followed by an LED flash. While on the front, we have a 25-megapixel shooter for selfies with Face Unlock support followed by over 800 scene detection modes and nifty AI features.

On the software front, the handset runs on ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The battery capacity is yet to be disclosed but given that the device shares most of its specs and design from the K1, it is safe to assume a 3,600mAh power cell clubbed with Fast Charging support.

While the Oppo K1 was pitted at CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 19,300) for the top-end variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, the Oppo R15X bears a more expensive price tag of CNY 2499 (roughly Rs 26,300) and will be sold in Nebula and Glacial Silver color options across all Offline stores in China, starting from November 1.
