Opera Mini browser for Android gets better language support, QR-code reader and enhanced download manager

Opera Mini browser for Android has now been updated with support for 90 languages, which includes 13 regional languages from India. With support for Malayalam and Tamil, the latest version of Opera Mini has been refreshed with the addition of Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Telugu and Urdu.

To select the desired language, you can either choose one during the initial launch of the browser or from the Settings option.

According to reliable sources, nearly 70% of the population in India does not use English as their primary language. Launching the latest update of Opera Mini web browser, the company sources disclosed that the addition of 13 Indian languages to the Opera Mini UI will help people who are not familiar with English to work on the web efficiently.

In addition to multi-language support, Opera Mini browser also offers support for QR code reader and generator, an in-app camera for file upload and the ability to use custom search engine per category.

Moreover, the company has added enhancements to provide a stable browsing experience in addition to improving the speed in the download manager.

With the help of QR code generator available on the top left-hand side of the browser, you will be able to create a QR code for any page and share with your friends.

Christian Uribe, Product Manager, Opera Mini revealed that the new QR code feature has been added because of the difficulty involved in typing long URLs. Moreover, navigating websites using long URLs is a big challenge for users in smartphones with a small display.

Uribe further told that the company is committed to bring the internet to as many people as possible and hence they have applied unique compression technology for users with low bandwidth connectivity in the latest update of Opera Mini browser.

The latest update of Opera Mini browser also includes a new download manager, which has the capability to boost download speeds. The company has added substantial improvements and tweaks to enhance the performance, stability in addition to download speed.
