OnePlus 7 specs & release date details: What we know so far!

OnePlus 7

The OnePlus 7 ranks right after the Pixel when it comes to the most leaked smartphone.  Lately, we’ve been going through a lot of leaks concerning the upcoming flagship. Now that the OnePlus 7 launch is near, we have plenty of details circling the specs, design, and variants of the handset.

According to the new leaks and rumours, OnePlus will be launching two smartphones, dubbed as OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. Rumours also suggest a 5G model, named as OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. That said, let’s talk about the known specifications of all the three devices.

OnePlus 7 Specs, Design

If the recent renders shared by Pricebaba and OnLeaks are accurate, the OnePlus seven will end up coming with a design similar to its predecessor. Notably, the upcoming OnePlus flagship will sport the same teardrop notch as its 6T, housing the front camera. Contrarily, the heavily-leaked pop-up camera seems to be reserved for the Pro model.

Talking of the specs, the OnePlus seven will feature a 6.4-inch flat AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution. Furthermore, the handset will get powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC and 8GB of RAM.

For photography, the OnePlus 7 is expected to sport dual cameras at the back. Wherein, the primary camera will comprise of a 48-megapixel sensor. Lastly, an in-display fingerprint scanner will be given alongside facial recognition for unlocking the device. Other details are yet be known.

While teasing the device, CEO Pete Lau mentioned- “Excited to share the next product from OnePlus will unleash a new era of Fast and Smooth. Especially Smooth! Smooth is more challenging than Fast – a true test of hardware and software. The new product is just beautiful – I can’t wait for you to see it!”

OnePlus 7 Pro Specs, Design

OnePlus 7 Pro

OnePlus 7 Pro, being a higher sibling to the regular model will bring a major design overhaul. Compared to the latter, the Pro will reportedly incorporate a larger 6.64″ Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The bump in screen resolution compared to the previous generations appears to be one of the most significant upgrades. Indeed, it’ll be one of the few mainstream smartphones to offer a 90Hz refresh rate.

The all-screen display will come with curved edges and a pop-up selfie camera hidden on the top frame. Interestingly, the phone will also offer improved haptic feedback, thanks to a new vibration motor.

As far as the cameras are concerned, the OnePlus Pro will get a  triple camera setup at the back. Notably, it would comprise of a primary 48-megapixel + Telephoto + Ultra Wide camera configuration, the leak reveals.

Other leak highlights include a massive 4,000mAh battery with 30W Warp Charge, USB 3.1 and dual stereo speakers. Similar to the regular model, this too will flaunt an in-display fingerprint scanner. However, we are still unclear whether it’ll be an optical or ultrasonic sensor.

OnePlus Pro 5G Specs, Design

Going by the current rumours, OnePlus 7 Pro 5G would opt for the same specifications as the above model. Additionally, as the name suggests, this will make use of the Qualcomm’s X50 Modem to enable 5G cellular connectivity on the smartphone. Whereas, the first two models would opt for X24 modem for LTE connectivity.

Release Date

We’ve previously witnessed a leaked poster that revealed the alleged release date of the upcoming OnePlus flagship. Going by that, the OnePlus seven lineup might launch globally on May 14th, 2019, followed by country-specific launch events.

Expected Price

While there’s no confirmation on price yet, the OnePlus 7 is expected to be priced similar to the 6T. That said, it should land somewhere in around £500 mark, upwards of Rs. 40,000 in India. The Pro and Pro 5G models will stretch a bit more, potentially as high as £599 and £699 (about Rs. 46,700 and Rs. 54,500, respectively). The phones are likely to come in new colour gradients, with Black Yellow, Black Purple and Cyan Grey options.
