Motorola is expected to roll out Android 7.0 Nougat for Moto Z and Moto Z Force handsets by this week. In a blog post published on November 21, Motorola disclosed that the Android 7.0 Nougat will roll out to Moto Z and Moto Z Force globally beginning this week.
Even though Motorola has announced the launch of the update, the company hasn’t provided the official changelog for the update. Normally, a changelog will be released, which will provide information about the new features.
Moto Z and Moto Z Force to offer Google Daydream VR compatibility
According to Motorola, after the handsets have been upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat, the handsets will be compatible with Daydream. To specify, the Daydream is the search engine giant’s platform for mobile VR.
The company has revealed that the Moto Z Force and its little brother will be the first from a third-party manufacturer to be recognized by Google as Daydream-ready devices. However, to experience Daydream, you will require access to a Daydream compatible headset such as Daydream View VR headset and controller manufactured by Google. The VR headsets are available at Verizon, Best Buy, and the Google Store in the US.
Moto Z and Moto Z Force Android 7.0 Nougat update features
Talking about the new features, you can expect the integration of same enhancements, improvements and bug fixes as in the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus update. This includes a new Moto specific feature named Swipe to shrink the screen.
If you had a chance to install the Android 7.0 Nougat update in Moto G4 Plus, you will know that the company has added a new setting to disable and enable locking the screen. However, this is done when the display is activated and when you touch the fingerprint sensor.
You can verify whether Android 7.0 Nougat update is available by navigating to Settings | About Phone | System updates. Recently, Motorola had stated that Android N update for the entire Moto Z series will be made available by the end of Q4 2016.
