Ever since Microsoft ditched Lumia series, there have been widespread talks on the rumor mills about the upcoming Surface Phone release date and specs. If rumors are to be believed, the first non-Lumia smartphone by the Redmond-based software giant is expected to launch during spring 2017.
Microsoft Surface Phone Release Date: Spring 2017
Earlier, there were rumors about the launch of new Surface Phone by the end of 2016. However, the company has reportedly decided to delay the release of the new device to integrate latest cutting edge technologies.
Talking about specifications, the Surface Phone is expected to feature Snapdragon 830 CPU. According to analysts, this processor will be released by Qualcomm only in 2017 and hence Microsoft has decided to postpone the release to around May/June 2017.
The upcoming Snapdragon 830 processor will be developed using a 10nm manufacturing process. Hence, you can expect great improvements related to power consumption, multitasking and enhanced efficiency during gaming. The upcoming processor will also run cooler than the previous counterparts.

On the internals front, the upcoming Surface Phone will be shipped with 8GB RAM, which enables you to work lag free. The phone will be more or less equal to that of a full-fledged laptop. Moreover, the device will offer a 500GB internal storage capacity.
There are rumors that Microsoft will also manufacture Surface Phone variants with 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage flavors. According to reports coming in, you can expect a 4GB RAM with 32GB of internal storage, 6GB RAM coupled with 64GB of internal storage and so on.
Surface Phone Price: It will start from $400
Regarding pricing, the Surface Phone is expected to be regarded as a premium business smartphone, therefore the price should start from $400 and go all the way up to $700.
As of writing this, Microsoft hasn’t revealed any further details regarding the development and release date. However, the upcoming Surface Phone will be released by the end of June 2016.
It seems that Microsoft is attempting to release a premium smartphone to capture the lost market because of the failure of Lumia series. Windows 10 Mobile is nowhere near Android and iOS. Hence, it is essential for the Microsoft to release a high-end device to attract customers.
