MediaTek has got into another strategic partnership with Micromax to boost 4G LTE-ready smartphone market in India. The move has come out as a result of rapidly increasing smartphone adoption and availability of 4G services across the country.
MediaTek announced the availability of its new family of smartphone chipsets called Helio in India, and Micromax will become the first Indian brand to come out with a device powered by Helio X10.
Micromax also unveiled its latest mid-range 4G LTE compatible Micromax Canvas Fire 4G smartphone in India, which is powered by MediaTek’s MT6735.
According to the survey commissioned by MediaTek, Indian consumers mainly consider three things — battery life, processor speed, and multimedia features while buying smartphones.
If the strategic analysis is to be believed, India will surpass Japan and the U.S. by 2017 and become the world’s second largest smartphone market, as 65 percent of Internet traffic is reportedly driven by mobile devices.
Since 2007, MediaTek has kept investing in India in terms of collaboration with Indian smartphone brand. According to company estimates, Indian brands hold a largest market share of mobile device chipsets.
