Mahindra & Mahindra to launch its new car, KUV100 on January 15

Mahindra and Mahindra is all set to debut its first passenger car in India. The car is christened KUV100. In the name KUV100 signifies Kool Utility Vehicle and 100 means the series and the vehicle’s ranking that’s currently below the Mahindra TUV300 as well as XUV500.

The KUV100 is designed on the monocoque chassis similar to the XUV500. It has a muscular as well as aggressive front end besides distinct character contours that make it resemble a mini XUV500. The grille of the new vehicle resembles that of the Scorpio.

The vehicle has four variants. They are K2, K4, K6, and K8. The first three variants also have a “+” option signifying additional safety as well as comfort facilities. The K8 variant incorporates all the premier features as well as safety facilities.

For the purpose of safety, the vehicle offers ABS as well as EBD as standard facilities across all variants. The driver as well as passenger airbags and also engine immobilizer will be available for all car variants except for the base one. The car comes with bench seats located both at the front and rear with 6-seat configuration.

The car is powered by a new mFalcon range of diesel and petrol engines, namely the mFalcon D75 and mFalcon G80.

The mFalcon G80 has an all-aluminum body and is the lightest engine in its segment.

Petrol Engine – The new 1.2-litre petrol engine utilizes advanced technologies that give high power density as well as fuel efficiency. The new petrol engine is clocked at 82 bhp as well as 114Nm of peak torque.

Diesel Engine – The mFalcon D75 is a 1.2 litre turbocharged common rail diesel engine. The diesel engine has the capability 77bhp with a peak torque of 190Nm.

However, both engines will be mated with a 5-speed manual transmission. Mahindra assures a gamut of features to trump over rivals such as the Hyundai Grand i10 as well as the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R. The price of the vehicle is expected to being in the range of Rs. 4.2 to 6 lakhs.
