Google has integrated a new feature, which enables you to place an order for food directly from the desktop, smartphone or tablet. Starting today, when you search for a nearby restaurant using your smartphone, you will be able to view an option named “Place an order” directly in the search results. You just need to tap on the link and select a favorite delivery service partner to place an order. As of writing this, Google had established partnerships with Zomato and Swiggy to deliver foods to all serviceable locations. As soon as you select a delivery partner, you will be taken to the relevant website. You need to complete the order process from within the device from which you are accessing Google.
In addition to the food ordering, Google Search has also simplified the whole dining experience. Going forward, if you would like to visit a restaurant but doesn’t want to wait for a table, you can book the table via Google Search. You can perform this by selecting either Dineout or Bytplus from within the Google Search either using your computer, smartphone, iPhone or any tablet.
Google has just rolled out the new features in a phased manner based on the priority of locations. Hence, it will take some time for it to reflect inside your device.
To test drive the new feature, you need to navigate to the search engine via your laptop or smartphone. You should search with a restaurant name like Toit. You will be able to book a table by selecting the link given alongside Reservations via bytplus.com.
Google Public Wi-Fi to connect 100 railway stations
Recently, Google launched its free high-speed public Wi-Fi service at Ujjain, Jaipur, Patna, Guwahati and Allahabad railway stations. The company is planning to expand the project at 100 railway stations across India by the end of 2016. The company sources disclosed that the company has deployed the service over the premium extensive fiber network under Railtel, which comes directly under Indian Railway.
With the recent launch of public Wi-Fi, the service is currently available at 15 stations across India. The company is planning to deploy the service is other railway stations within the next 3 months.
Commenting on the launch of Public Wi-Fi, Google India Head of Access Programs Gulzar Azad revealed that the company has seen an incredible usage of the Wi-Fi service across all the deployed stations. He said that over 2.5 lakh users are taking advantage of the service every week.
The Public Wi-Fi service is currently available in full capacity at Mumbai Central, Pune, Bhubaneshwar, Bhopal, Ranchi, Raipur, Vijayawada, Kacheguda, Ernakulum Junction, Vishakhapatnam, Jaipur, Patna, Guwahati, Ujjain, and Allahabad.
The integration of food ordering via Google Search will be a big boon for people since they are place orders from their train.
