DataWind UbiSlate Tablets
The UbiSlate 7Ci is the company’s cheapest 7-inch tablet with cellular connectivity and costs around Rs 3,999. On the other hand, 9-inch tablet UbiSlate 9Ci is priced Rs 4,999 while its first 3G device UbiSlate 3G7 at Rs 6,999. All 3 tablets are supported with voice call facility.
“Despite the recent drop in value of the INR, we have held strong and not increased pricing of our products, and instead, now are introducing new products with breakthrough pricing,” DataWind President & CEO Suneet Singh Tuli said in a statement.
The company had earlier bagged a contract from Indian Government IT department for supplying 1 lakh low-priced tablets, named Aakash, billed as the world’s cheapest tablet PC and that soon became a household name in the tech world.
The UbiSlate 7Cx and the UbiSlate 9Ci run on Androod Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 OS, while UbiSlate 3G7 runs on Android 4.1 system. With regards to specifications, Ubislate7Cx has internal memory of 2GB, 512 RAM and 1 Ghz Cortex A8 processor. The rest two have internal memory of 4GB, front VGA camera and support Wi-Fi networks.
DataWind claims, in addition to regular voice calling feature, UbiSlate phablets incorporate web-delivery platform which allow devices to deliver the fastest mobile web experience on regular GSM-EDGE based networks.
Main feature of the DataWind tablets is that the tablets come pre-loaded with educational, entertainment, and utility apps including E-Books for Class 1 to 12 NCERT in English, Hindi & Urdu Medium; Test Preparation Tool; Free Higher Education & Soft-Skill Courses powered by CEC London; English language learning tools; Interactive Multimedia-rich educational resources and more. These also come pre-loaded with Antivirus & Anti-theft Pack by E-Scan. The tablets are available for immediate delivery.
