Cortana India update

Cyanogen has rolled out Microsoft Cortana update for the OnePlus One users in India. However, the update of the voice-based virtual assistant will be available only for users running Cyanogen OS 13.1. According to company sources, the Cortana India update will be automatically rolled out to the OnePlus One users when connected to Wi-Fi.

The Cortana is deeply integrated into Cyanogen and hence users of OnePlus One will be able to perform their work using voice commands. The main attraction of Cortana is that you will be able to perform a wide range of functions such as alarm setting including Wi-Fi activation and deactivation.

Commenting on the development, an official spokesperson of Cyanogen revealed that the company is happy to launch Cortana in India on Cyanogen OS. This means OnePlus One customers who work with 13.1 will be able to take advantage of all the features available from Cortana.

Cortana mod for camera integrated

In addition to the regular Cortana features and improvements, Cyanogen also integrated the new Cortana mod for camera and lock display. These features were made available to users in other regions with Cyanogen OS 13.1.

Capture selfies with voice commands

Alternatively, the Mod support was introduced in June, which provides an ability for the users to give voice commands while capturing selfies. Moreover, you will be able to search right from the lock screen.

Meanwhile, the Cortana feature was initially available to the OnePlus One in January with Cyanogen OS 12.1.1. In fact, the company promised the availability of the feature in September 2015. However, they managed to release it only after 3 months of extra effort. The company then released the update to users in the US and China. If you recollect, the update to the Cortana for Android app was rolled out in the similar fashion.

OnePlus to merge Oxygen and Hydrogen OS teams

In the meantime, OnePlus has confirmed that the company is gearing up to merge the Oxygen OS and the Hydrogen OS for upcoming devices. The company disclosed the plans to XDA developers by stating that the merger will provide quick updates to the devices in the future.

In a statement, the company sources revealed that it will merge the OxygenOS and HydrogenOS teams. This is to facilitate the progress of the work as one unified team on this one combined platform.

The main advantage of combining team resources is to enhance the speed of the software updates, said the OnePlus team. The company added that there is some scope for improvement. However, this is an important step in the right direction.
