Key sources indicate that Apple plans to launch three different iPhone models this year. One of them will be a direct successor to the iPhone X with a 5.8-inch OLED display, and the second one being the larger iPhone X Plus with a 6.5-inch OLED display. However, the third one is rumoured to be a more affordable iPhone 9 model having a 6.1-inch LCD display,
Now, an alleged leaked image of the 6.1-inch iPhone model is doing rounds on the web. The image comes from a rather reliable source who has posted accurate renders and leaks in the past. That being said, there are a few discrepancies with the image with the details that are already available out there.
Analyst Ming Chi Kuo, who has proven track record with past Apple leaks, earlier indicated that Apple will supposedly keep manufacturing costs down for the third iPhone model by reducing RAM, ditching 3D Touch support, and use the less-expensive LCD panel instead of an OLED screen. This also means that wireless charging is not likely to be offered, and Kuo also indicated that dual-camera system will be scrapped as well in order for Apple to launch a low-cost iPhone.
Though, the latest leak suggests otherwise. It calls it the display panel of the iPhone X, further adding that it’s a 6.1-inch OLED panel. Now, this is in stark contrast with what more reliable sources earlier said about Apple’s plans to launch two different OLED iPhone models – one of them having a 5.8-inch screen while the other with a 6.5-inch OLED screen. In other words, there’s not supposed to be a 6.1-inch iPhone with an OLED panel in 2018.
Thus, we advise our readers to this information with a pinch of salt, as right now it’s rather hard to determine the legitimacy of this 2018 iPhone leak.
