Airtel has officially launched 4G services in Uttar Pradesh. To begin with, the 4G services have been launched in Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Agra, Aligarh, Bulandshahar, Hapur, Mathura, Modinagar, Muzzafarnagar, and Meerut. According to company sources, the Airtel 4G services will be expanded to more than 200 towns spanning 42 districts in the state by November end.
Commenting on the launch, Bharti Airtel CEO (UP and Uttarakhand) Shailendra Singh disclosed that the company has installed demo zones and kiosks at all Airtel retail outlets. This will enable customers to easily migrate from their existing 2G/3G SIMs with 4G without any extra cost.
Airtel offers 10GB 4G data for Rs. 249
As part of the launch, customers will be able to avail 10GB 4G data for Rs. 249 in UP (West) and Rs. 255 in UP (East) with any new 4G smartphone. The rates are applicable for prepaid customers. If you are in the UP, you just need to pay Rs. 249 for 10GB of data bandwidth.
Airtel 4G launched on spectrum band of 1800 MHz
Singh said that Airtel 4G will be available to customers across various smart gadgets, which includes smartphones, dongles, and 4G hotspots. Airtel 4G services in the UP have been introduced using spectrum band of 1800 MHz (FD LTE) to achieve enhanced network capacity and excellent customer experience.
Recently, the company refreshed the My Airtel App to provide best of music, movies, games, Live TV, e-books and chats. The 4G services were first launched in Kolkata in April 2012 followed by its availability in 21 circles across India.
Airtel had launched a branded network transformation program named Project Leap in November 2015. With a total investment of Rs. 60000 crore over the next three years, the Project Leap aims to improve network quality to a great extent.
