Acer to Bring Amazon Alexa to PCs in 2018

The leading hardware and electronics manufacturer Acer has announced the integration of Amazon Alexa to some of its notebook. As per the new report, Amazon Alexa will be coming to the selected model of Aspire, Spin, Switch and Swift notebooks, and it will also be there in Aspire all-in-one PC. This new feature will be available form the first quarter of 2018 in the U.S. market, and the user can get it through an update through Acer Care Center. It is expected that it will roll out to the other markets in mid-2018.

Jerry Kao, President of IT Products Business of Acer Inc, stated that  Amazon Alexa which is one of the industry-leading audio technology would enable the consumers to interact with multiple voice services on their notebook or desktop.

On the other hand, Steve Rabuchin, Vice President, Amazon Alexa stated that by integration of Alexa on PCs can be helpful to customers and will be helpful in interact with smart home, get news or weather, set timers, and more.

All the upcoming notebooks from Acer has been equipped with Intel Smart Sound Technology, integrated audio DSP which helps to handle audio, voice, and speech interactions. Now, Amazon Alexa will add more features to it. The users will get a quick response to their voice command as well as they will get high fidelity audio.

Commenting on this new feature, Anand Srivatsa, General Manager of Intel’s Desktop, Channel and Systems Group stated that Alexa paired with Intel Smart Sound Technology, will serve better features and increase the productivity.

After getting Amazon Alexa in their Acer notebooks and desktops, the users can perform different tasks by just asking it to Alexa. Using user’s voice command, Alexa can check the calendar, create lists and answer questions, play music, podcasts or audiobooks. The users can also control the smart home devices through voice commands to Alexa.

Acer’s Switch 7 Black Edition and Spin 5 with support far-field voice recognition feature. All thanks to its Acer purified Voice and four digital microphones. It can easily recognize the voice from up to nine feet (2.74 m) away.

Well, this is not for the first time that Acer integrated Amazon Alexa to work with its devices.  Acer’s Air Monitor also works with Alexa. After air monitor, notebooks and desktops, now Acer’s new 4K UHD projectors with model number V6820M and V6820i will now support Amazon Alexa. These will be the first projector from Acer to support Amazon Alexa.  To control the projector, the users first have to enable the Acer Projector Smart Home skill and can give their command via the Echo or compatible Acer PC.

The Acer V6820M/i wireless projector, the user can now experience stunning video quality with an intensely sharp 120-inch 4K UHD display with 3,840 x 2,160 of resolution. The V6820M/i is compatible with HDR and Rec. 2020 signals, supports the Rec. 709 standard for cinema-like color accuracy, and HDMI 3D for 3D home theater experiences. It comes with Acer AcuMotion frame interpolation system to provide seamless motion during playing videos. It operates at an extremely low noise level of 19dBA.
