NEW DELHI – Huawei has launched P9 flagship smartphone in India. Huawei P9 was initially announced in the month of April this year in London. The main USP of the Huawei P9 is its innovative dual camera setup powered by Leica sensors. The handset is the direct successor of the Huawei P8 which came with exceptional camera hardware. Till now, the Chinese manufacturer has focussed mainly towards the entry level to upper mid-range smartphone market in the country, and with the P9, it wishes to venture into the premium sector. The Huawei P9 can be bought exclusively from Flipkart for Rs. 39,999.
Huawei P9 Specifications
The latest smartphone, Huawei P9 comes with an outstanding build quality which firmly suggests that it truly belongs to the premium class. A 5.2-inch IPS NEO LCD display sits on top of the smartphone. The capacitive multi-touch supported screen sports a Full HD 1080p resolution with a resultant pixel density of about 423 ppi. The display covers about 73 percent of the total front surface area of the phone.
An octa-core 64-bit HiSilicon Kirin 955 SoC powers the Huawei P9. The home grown chipset features four ARM Cortex A72 cores running at 2.5 GHz each and four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz each. The graphics department is managed by the quad core ARM Mali T880 MP4 GPU.
Huawei’s brand new flagship comes in two variants, one with 3 GB RAM combined with 32 GB of internal storage and another with 4 GB RAM along with 64 GB of inbuilt memory. The smartphone also supports microSD card up to 256 GB through a hybrid second SIM slot. The Huawei P9 runs the company’s own Emotion UI 4.1 on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The camera department of the latest device is the most exciting one. The handset sports two 12 MP camera sensors with one being a standard RGB sensor and other can sense only monochrome light. The latter comes without an additional filter which is required by colour sensors. This in turn facilitates more light intake by the sensor, resulting in way better low light images. The phone sports an 8 MP front camera. The Huawei P9 can shoot 1080p videos at up to 60 fps. Mysteriously, there is 4K shooting capability in the phone.
The latest handset comes with dual SIM slots with complete compatibility with 4G LTE networks. Other connectivity options include a dual band 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz WiFi, Bluetooth version 4.2, A-GPS with GLONASS or BDS, a Type-C USB port. The phone does not support FM Radio. A quick charge supported non-removable 3000mAh Lithium-ion battery juices up the Huawei P9. The smartphone can be exclusively bought from Flipkart.com.
