Sony finally unveiled the refresh line up of Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact smartphones today. The main updates are the inclusion of top of the line Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 Chipset and noticeable aesthetic changes. The XZ1 duo will come with the latest Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box.

Aesthetic wise both the phones comes with refined design perimeter. Both the smartphones possess the smooth edges around the corners, but they still follow the traditional footprint of Sonys traditional design philosophy. The XZ1 is built on a Metal Chassis with slim overall structure. While the XZ1 compact design is based on a glass fiber and plastic construction. Moreover, both the phones are enriched by a Fingerprint sensor on the front. However, both the variants do not include a fingerprint scanner for the US market.
The Sony Xperia XZ1 is packed with 5.2 inches Full HD display, While the younger sibling is featured with a 4.6 inches HD display. Both the variants adhere Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and IP68 certification for water resistance capabilities. The XZ1 duo is sports with Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB RAM, and 2700mAh battery with the inclusion of Stamina mode. The XZ1 comes with a 64GB of ROM, whereas the XZ1 compact is packed with 32GB of internal storage.
On the camera front, both the phones adhere a 19-megapixel sensor with Predictive Capture which allows users to capture the images before hitting the shutter button. In addition, Sony also includes Motion Eye camera system technology on the both the smartphones.
Pricing and Availability
Both the smartphones will be available in four color variants i:e black, blue, silver, and pink. The XZ1 will be available from September 19 for $699.99. While the XZ1 Compact arrives on October 4th for $599.99 with added support for T-Mobile’s Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE features.
