Pebble time Steel smartwatch is a new addition in Pebble’s gadget treasury. It is not just about the looks with Pebble time steel; it boasts 10-day battery life which is not available with any other smartwatch as of now. I didn’t rush to write a detailed review rather I am putting up the initial observation about the smartwatch.
It comes in three peppy and exciting colors: Gold, Black and Silver. Mine was Gold and honestly I loved the color combination.

It features the always on color e-display with LED backlight. It is thinner than previous iterations and fits perfectly on your wrist. The body is made of the steel having 2.5D curved glass at the front. Watch dial is adequately sized but actual watch face is very small surrounded by a thick bezel.
From the perspective of an aesthete, it was an off for me. However, this is not one of the bright display as compared to prevailing AMOLED or P-OLED displays picked up by Motorola, Samsung, etc. but is adequately bright and sunlight legibility is good too.
On the right side, it has 3 tactile textured buttons which let you operate the device even if you are not looking at it. Top button sends you back; bottom is for checking out the calendar and the middle button lets you access the menu of the smartwatch.
There is one another control located on the left, mainly functions notification control switch which is idol to activate when you are off for sleep. Notification vibration is very strong; there be hardly any instances where you miss out on any call or important notification. You get to customize watch face through Pebble app store and can choose from thousands of custom watch faces available there.
Fitness freaks can use it as a fitness band but it doesn’t replace the need of having a smart fitness band. With the help of Pebble Health, you can keep a track of your steps, sleep and also get personalized insights through daily stats and weekly graphs to show trends, which in my understanding aces your desire to stay fit and healthy. But it lacks heart rate tracker which limits the functionality of being called a complete package.
The best part about Pebble Time Steel is, it works with all the Android devices running Jelly Bean 4.3 and above, that overcome the redundancy of older software version on the verge of extinction. It is also compatible with iPhone 4S and above running iOS 8.
Almost Android Wear and Apple smartwatch last a day on single charge, which has been a very prominent issue with these wearable. Pebble took the charge to conquer the problem and came with huge 10-day battery life on single charge.
The smartwatch is water resistant and not waterproof so it can resist water up to 30 meters only. In my opinion, that won’t be a wise move especially when you have a leather band which is highly vulnerable.
What I didn’t like about the smartwatch You cannot make phone calls with it. However, with the help of the microphone, you can send voice replies to most of the applications. It also lacks heart rate tracking and UI completely failed to draw my attention.

Priced at 15,999 INR, this smartwatch is surely cheaper than other Android and Apple wearable but still on a pricey side with lots of tweaks. This smartwatch from Pebble may not be a revolution in the realm of wearable market but it is great for durability and sports considering its significant battery life. But you need to make sure before buying whether the battery life is worth of this huge chunk of your pocket.
