Lava, the modern smartphone manufacturer, announced the launch of the much awaited Iris Atom 3 at a very competitive price tag of Rs 4899. The company has listed the device on its official website, but there is no information regarding the exact availability.
We made an attempt to reach out to Lava but the spokesperson declined to provide any estimated launch date.
Lava in a press statement confirmed that Iris Atom 3 is aimed at first- time smartphone users. The device is also expected to target senior citizens who would like to experience the goodness of Android at a small price.
Lava Iris Atom 3 features a 5-inch display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 512MB of memory with 8GB internal storage. The device also includes a 5MP primary camera and 2MP front facing shooter.
The internal storage will be sufficient for beginners, but it can be expanded up to 32GB with the memory card. The dual-SIM handset runs on Android Lollipop and will have all the essential connectivity features in addition to the 2000mAh battery.
The handset will not be pocket-friendly because it weighs 150 grams and is available in both Black and White colours.
Lava Iris Atom 3 will be a great buy at this price and will likely compete with Redmi 2 Prime, which has only 4.7-inch display costing Rs. 6999. However, the display of Iris Atom 3 is standard LCD and not IPS. Hence, the viewing angles will not look great as in Redmi.
Lava is scheduled to invest over Rs 200 crores over the next two years in India to establish a world-class design and testing facility. The company is also planning to export all the upcoming handsets to other countries from India by November 2016.
Hari Om Rai, Chairman, Lava International confirmed that the company will export handsets to China from India by 2019, which will bring a much-needed boost to our economy. The company is also planning to double its workforce from the current team of 150 people to 600 by the end of 2016.
