Apart from launching the Yu Yuphoria handset on Tuesday, Micromax subsidiary Yu Televentures also launched YuFit, which is the company’s first fitness band. Yu’s CEO Rahul Sharma called it more than a fitness band; it is a lifestyle companion.
YuFit Band has an OLED screen that can track steps, sleep and also alert you to incoming calls and messages for a paltry Rs. 999.
YuFit will rub shoulders with Xiaomi Mi Band, which has been launched with the same price tag. However, YuFit features some extra features It can be connected to smartphones through Bluetooth and is compatible with both Android and iPhone.
The YuFit Band has the YuFit app that will coordinate with HealthifyMe service and evaluate and provide feedback on the data collected by the band.
YuFit Band gives the user access to group coaching, motivation, social fitness, and much more. The first 1000 users can avail the services of a free personal trainer. Users can choose a coach who will be at their service on call.
The app also helps users keep an eye on the calories they are consuming with the help of its database that includes Indian snacks and food. The smart band also shows the time besides alerting users about incoming messages and calls.
Compared with Mi Band which works like a pedometer and it shows steps, sleep and calories, YuFit Band have an OLED screen with different types of notification. Fitness tracking will allow the app to check if the user has accomplished his set fitness goals. IFitness Tracker will also enable users to interact with nutritionists, personal health coaches, physiotherapist, etc. Micromax has recently invested heavily for HealthifyMe app
The company also released one more health-centric accessory called the HealthYu, with a price tag of Rs. 4,999 and will go on sale in June as well. YuFit also has the Find My Phone feature that helps users locate their paired smartphone.
