Xiaomi is on the verge of launching its next mid range smartphone Mi 5X in India in the coming weeks. The device was expected to release in next month with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB onboard storage. The confirmation regarding its launch is provided by the Xiaomi India’s managing director Manu Kumar Jain via Twitter in which he mentions “Can’t wait for you guys to check out Xiaomi’s first dual-camera phone in India! Coming next month!”.
The main USP of the Xiaomi Mi 5X is its dual camera which consists of 12 MP wide angle camera and 12 MP telephoto lens with 4 axis image stabilization. It also offers 2X lossless zoom, 4K video recording, and real time bokeh effect. In front, the device will be equipped with a 5MP front facing shooter.Further, the phone is expected to be equipped with 5.5 inches Full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset which is clocked at 2.0GHz, 4GB RAM, Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) with MIUI 9 on the top and Adreno 506 GPU.
The smartphone will likely to come in two ROM variants i:e 32GB/64GB which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. This Dual SIM phone will be fuelled by 3080 mAh battery with fast charging capabilities. Moreover, the device has a Fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass.
The connectivity options will include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, WiFi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, and USB 2.0. The device will be measured at 155.4 x 75.8 x 7.3 mm and expected to weigh around 165grams. The phone may come in three color variants i:e Black, Gold, and Rose Gold with a price tag of EUR 200 (INR 15,043).
Xiaomi is already tasting success in India as they have become the premier mid segment brand in the price sensitive Indian market. Company’s last offering Redmi Note 4 was a remarkable smartphone as far as the sales are a concern. Xiaomi successfully sold over 5 million units of Note 4 in merely 6 months just behind the Samsung Galaxy J series handsets. As this upcoming device seems to be a beast in the mid range market, we hope that Mi 5X will be launched next month and it will a stiff competition to other popular brands.
