Wal-Mart Strategizes to Attract Amazon Business Online
However, the introduction of unlimited shipping program is a step towards making a substantial commitment and shows how serious the retail marketer is about its growth through online business.
Wal-Mart lately has been hit by the slowdown in its online business and hence this new introduction of shipping program is considered as a strategy to enhance its online presence.
Similarly, it is also a way to attract some of the business of Amazon.
The information that covers the technology industry first reported the unlimited, shipping service for the first time.
A company spokesperson, Ravi Jariwala has said that the offerings are being provided based on response and increasing demands of the customers who have been looking for affordable and predictable shipping.
One of the main reasons for offering unlimited, shipping service is that more and new customers are joining the bandwagon of netizens who purchase their most of the requirements through online stores.
This new strategy from Wal-Mart is an effort to test new ways of serving such customers.
However, the service at present is available only on an invitation, according to Jariwala.
The service is to offer one million and more top-selling items ranging from electronic gadgets to toys.
At present, the online site of Wal-Mart sells more than 7 million products worldwide.
